MEET LUKE

“Part of an album is the art that is on the outside. Having something in your hand, to open, is like getting a little a present every time.”

Luke Polenz

Collecting records is something that Luke’s family has done since the 1980’s. Luke began collecting his own collection for the past 5 years. When he listens to vinyl, it takes him back to his family ranch in Springfield, NE.

Luke believes his taste in music is a reflection of his “old-school personality” and his enjoyment for timeless aspects in life. Most of his favorite music is either country, rock, or southern rock. He enjoys country artists emerging today that give that old-school, southern sound like artists such as Chris Stapleton, Brother Osborne and Sturgill Simpson. Luke chose to bring his records along with him to college and display them in his dorm on UNL campus to keep a little piece of home with him while he’s in Lincoln.

Some of Luke’s favorite artists consist of:

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd

  • Willie Nelson

  • Chris Stapleton

  • Waylon Jennings

Luke stated that the album he currently listens to the most is From a Room: Volume 2 by Chris Stapleton, but said his all time favorite is Lynyrd Skynyrd’s One More From the Road.

“When I listen to a Willie Nelson or Waylon Jennings record, it brings me back to my barn. It’s really nice when you live in town to have a little piece from back home.”
